A TUNNEL at Cottbus Film Festivals’ Ecoeast section
A Tunnel is a part of the new festival section called EcoEast that shows films on ecological topics and sustainability.
"How do people change the landscape, and how does the landscape change people? How does Eastern Europe deal with climate change? How are large-scale projects that interfere with the ecological balance discussed? What is the interaction between nature and collective identity, and between ecology and economy? We begin with films from Georgia, where filmmakers were already addressing ecological issues in 1934. A journey through time that shows that ecological issues have not only been passionately discussed since the end of the 20th century, and also how awareness of environmental and sustainability issues developed."
The series was created in cooperation with the Institute for Eastern European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin and was co-curated by Irine Beridze and Susanne Strätling. Credit (Image & Text): Cottbus Film Festival
